Five Generations of AI

Seventy years of AI in five generations, each one still running somewhere in most companies. Every example here is from {{COMPANY_NAME}}, and so is the question that comes before all of them: does this need AI at all.

The Timeline

Nothing on this rail died. Each generation still runs somewhere in most companies, including this one. The status under each generation is the estate read you gave during the lab. Select a generation to open it.

02

The Five Generations

How each generation works, what it was good at, what it was not, and what actually drove the value. Open a generation for the systems it needs, the skills it needs, and the examples built for these departments.

03

The Example Bank

Every example generated for these departments, in one place. Filter by generation, by department, or by the honest verdict on whether the use case needs AI at all. Select a card to see the systems, the skills, the benefit, the limitation, and the risk.

04

Does This Even Need AI

Walk it in order and stop at the first yes. The right generation is the earliest one that clears the bar, because every step up costs more to run, explains itself less, and demands more governance.

If two generations both clear the bar, take the earlier one. If none of them clear it, the honest answer is not yet, and the reason is usually data, process, or accountability rather than model capability.

The Challenge

Test the ladder on real cases, including the ones that need no AI at all. Answer, read the reveal, and take it again as often as you like. Print this page and the full answer key comes with it, so it works as a team exercise.
